FM Sylvan Appoints Management Team
Chief Operating Officer and President Positions to Created to Scale Operations While Maintaining Superior Quality, Award-Winning Project Safety Record, and Disciplined Financial Management
Perth Amboy, NJ - February 16, 2009 - FM Sylvan, a leading provider of industrial process pipe, today announced significant enhancements to the company's management team to help lead the company's expansion. Robert Metz has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer and Bob Murphy has joined the company as President. The appointments of Metz and Murphy reflect FM Sylvan's strategic commitment to furthering FM Sylvan's position as the market leading industrial services contractor in the North, South, and the Midwest. Both have extensive management experience leading organizations through an aggressive growth phase, while improving performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Metz and Murphy, along with FM Sylvan's long-time Chief Executive Officer, Jim Frees, comprise FM Sylvan's executive management team, headquartered in Perth Amboy, NJ.
As CFO, Bob Murphy is responsible for aligning FM Sylvan's finance and capital structures to the company's business strategies. In this capacity, he maintains total quality compliance with the laws and regulations that apply to corporate accounting and financial standards in all geographies in which Sylvan operates. Additionally, he oversees operations at the company's Nashville, Tennessee and Mt. Laurel, New Jersey offices.
Murphy joins FM Sylvan from Wachovia Bank, where he held corporate finance positions from 1991-2008. At Wachovia, Murphy was responsible for developing, managing and providing advice/solutions for midsize companies throughout the United States.
In his role a Chief Operating Officer at FM Sylvan, Robert Metz provides oversight, coordination, and operational support to all operating units. Specifically, he is responsible for managing the company's manpower, capital equipment, safety, marketing, insurance, legal, and assurety functions. Metz also heads the company's oil and gas initiatives, leveraging his industry expertise. He is also directing the launch of the company's Alabama office.
Metz joins FM Sylvan from Tanenbaum-Harber/RFF Associates, a construction insurance and surety brokerage consolidation owned by Olympus Partners, where he served as Executive Vice President and Director of Corporate Development. Metz brings a wealth of operations, general management, corporate development and sales experience at both Fortune 500 and small, entrepreneurial organizations to FM Sylvan.
